I have had problems with my teeth since I was young. I always have cavities and as I got older my teeth starting breaking. I have had fillings, crowns, root canals, and a bridge.
Last week, I had a tooth break that was holding my bridge in place. The dentist reshaped the bridge and pulled the tooth. He said that I need to have the bridge replaced with two dental implants. I was overwhelmed and processing the fact that my tooth was pulled. But, after I saw the estimate for dental implants, I don’t think I can afford it.
Do you know if I have any other less expensive options besides dental implants?

From what you have described, it sounds like the dentist probably presented you with the ideal treatment plan. Dental implants are the best solution for missing teeth. Since you didn’t inquire any further, he probably assumed you were fine with it. But, dental implants are not your only option to replace your missing tooth and bridge.
Depending on how much bone is at the implant site, you may be able to get one dental implant. Then, the dental bridge could be supported by it. Or there is another option called a cantilever bridge, which means it is only attached to one side from the tooth. Now, depending on the health of the surrounding teeth, this may not be an option. A partial denture is another treatment that may work to replace several missing teeth. All of these options may be less expensive than getting two dental implants.
So, why don’t you call back in ask more about your options? It may end up being easiest for you to schedule a consultation so you can hear firsthand the pros and cons of each and get any questions answered. Together, you can find a plan that works for your specific needs and budget. Don’t feel embarrassed. Your dentist likely assumed you were okay with the implants. Just be honest about your concerns.
Lastly, many dental practices have different payment plans and options available. So, be sure to ask about those too.
